Writing: an instrument of power

Vitrina 106
The narrative aspect of Iberian writing appears at the end of the third century B.C. in Edetan pottery. The same artists that painted vessels with figurative scenes added inscriptions referring to the scenes depicted and wrote dedicatory and memorial formulas on the edges of those vessels. This reflects that a sector of the people was literate and that they were linked to the spheres of power represented by ladies and warriors.
