The history of coins

Coins were introduced by the Greeks in the late seventh century B.C. and dominated economic circuits until the inclusion of banknotes in the seventeenth century and cards, in the twentieth century. Showcases offer a broad overview of the history of coins, analyzing aspects such as metrology, designs, authorities and forgery. Outstanding artistic Greek coins are exposed, Iberian emissions that began the monetization of the Peninsula, Roman pieces that definitely consolidated the monetary economy in the western Mediterranean and a variety of medieval, modern and contemporary pieces. Coins are presented accompanied by various objects, as some banknotes that serve to highlight the importance of this fiduciary system since the late nineteenth century.
